“I have been an artist at heart and spirit my entire life.” I was educated at the Philadelphia College of Art (1983-84) for Fine Art and Figure Drawing. I obtained my degree for Interior Design from the Art Institute of Philadelphia (1987).
I pursued a career in design as a display coordinator for a large furniture chain in the Philadelphia area. In 1990 I relocated to South Florida and continued with display design within upscale furniture stores in Boca Raton, Florida. I attended Margate, School of Floral Design in Margate Florida (1997). I have created over 300 unique floral arrangements and wreaths for many flower shops and homes. I instructed children to draw people and animals at The Charter School of Excellence, Fort Lauderdale, Florida (1999-2000). This experience inspired my true passion, fine art portraiture and pastel skyscapes.
Portraits by Elizabeth was created in 2001. I was commissioned to attend a variety of events to draw portraits of guests. I have developed my own original style of portraiture utilizing an artistic likeness to the subject.
I am currently a member of The Portrait Society of America and The Oil Pastel Society. Lifetime member Cambridge Who’s Who.
Ms. Toplin-McShane brings 27 years of professional experience to Portraits by Elizabeth, an art gallery that focuses on fine art portraiture, pastel landscape drawings, floral arrangements and interior design. She specializes in portraits of people, pets and homes as well as scenery rendered in oil pastel, custom-made silk, dried floral design, interior design and space planning consulting, and fashion scarves and women's handbag design. Her responsibilities include managing the business, assisting homeowners, marketing and estimating expenses. She became involved in her profession because of her love for the arts and attributes her success to her hard work and self-motivation.
A product of The Art Institute of Philadelphia, Ms. Toplin-McShane received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design in 1987. She is a member of the Portrait Society of America and the Oil Pastel Society. She aspires to gain recognition for her work.
